It is with great sadness, but with hope that we may find ways to bless the hearts of the family of one of our dearest and most caring community leaders, Peggy Whitmore. Her daughter Wendi let me know that she is in comfort care at the hospital and is resting easy, with her family at her side. She is a force for good in Entiat, born and raised in the beautiful valley that is reflected so brightly in her warm smile and sparkling eyes. Your prayers and positive thoughts for Peggy and her wonderful family are deeply appreciated at this time. Peggy once said when interviewed by Nancy Warner about growing up and living in Entiat, "This whole community is unbelievable — the way they stand behind each other ...It’s the Entiat way,” she explained as she recalled the community’s response to the 1965 house fire that destroyed her family’s home, including ... flour sack dresses. “My little sisters never missed a day of school because of this community,” she marveled. “That night we had clothes for the kids and food; it was incredible the way people came to help them. And that’s just one small example,” she said. “There are hundreds of stories.”
I hope that those stories are always shared , and the kindness and good humor that Peggy offered to everyone she meets comes right back to her and to her children, grandchildren, siblings, and large extended family and friends during this difficult time and always.
I'm so sorry to receive this news. Is there an address or a way to get a card to Peggy and her family? She is the reason I became involved in the Entiat Historical Society; she understood my connection to the valley and welcomed me with warmth and an open heart. - Kathy Jo Porter
Peggy holds a special place in our hearts! Her positive energy, humor, and smiles are contagious and brighten any one’s day she is around. Truly a blessing to this community! Sending everyone strength during this incredibly difficult time.

I'm one of those "little sisters" that peg talked about. It was a truly wonderful blessing when our home burned. Peggy is my big sister and I'm so saddened by her illness. Prayers are definitely needed at this time. - Leanne
