The sun is just breaking through the clouds this afternoon, coating the hills with light. The darling brave wildflowers reach their petals skyward, a sweet prelude to summer.

The morning rain did not stop the Swallowfest Parade in Ardenvoir this last Saturday!

Friends and families waved to Queen Jackie Fisher as the parade of firefighters, a tractor, a little red car, kids on bikes, Seahawks float, and hippie van band rode by in a blur of candy and sirens! If would be so much fun to have an entry from the Entiat Community Historical Society in the parade someday!

On Friday, April 10, the Entiat Memorial Board brought a wonderful piece of art to the Albert Long Museum for display in our Main Room. It is a hand-drawn, detailed and accurate rendition of the streets, businesses and homes of the 2nd town of Entiat, as it existed before the flooding of the town during the construction of Rocky Reach Dam in 1960. There is an accompanying key to the drawing with each numbered location identified. Chuck Wolf was the principal artist. He took his inspiration from a drawing of the town that the late Wayne Long had begun. The project to complete an enlarged version of the drawing was jointly accomplished with the help of John Zucker, Keith Vradenburg, Ted Whitehall and others.

While the guys got everything ready to hang the art, stories of Entiat Valley loggers, orchardists, firefighters, road builders, lawmen and daring rescuers brought the drawing to life. Chuck and all of the guys said that the best part of working on the map was the camaraderie of friends and remembering their shared past.

On Thursday, April 30th, from 3:30 - 6:00 PM, you are invited to join us at the Entiat Grange Hall as we celebrate and honor some of our elder historians and welcome families and children to share after school snacks and stories! We are hoping to get new volunteers, especially to help with hosting at the museum this summer. There are many and diverse ways to volunteer at the museum.

You are invited to visit the Museum this summer! We will be open on Saturdays from 10:00 - 3:00 PM from Memorial Day - Labor Day. Entiat is truly a beautiful place with a deep history.
